Dr. Robert Ross had a lifetime of expertise in the area of medical education.  As the founder and former owner of one of the largest and most prestigious Caribbean medical schools, Robert Ross brought a wealth of experience, knowledge, and resources to offer you the best education possible.

Dr. Robert Ross was a benefactor – because he continued to address the growing need for qualified health care practitioners in the United States and Canada.  His reputation in developing academic institutions and his dedication to excellence are known worldwide.

In 2005, Dr. Ross founded the International University of Nursing (IUON). This is a modern, state of the art nursing school located on the exotic Caribbean island of St. Kitts.  IUON offers a traditional  Bachelor Degree in Nursing.  IUON is affiliated with several prestigious schools of nursing in the United States where students complete their senior year.  Students graduate with a degree from a U.S. partner school and are eligible to apply for the NCLEX-RN and practice nursing in the U.S. Pass rates on the NCLEX currently exceeds 90%.

With the success of IUON, Dr. Ross turned to addressing the growing need for qualified physicians in the United States and Canada.  In 2007, Dr. Ross founded the University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS). The UMHS inaugural medical school class was seated in May 2008.

Dr. Ross was an innovator - by using technology and the latest teaching techniques to provide a medical sciences academic institution dedicated to excellence.  The St. Kitts campus has a 24 bed virtual hospital that utilizes human simulators.  Here, both nursing and medical students can integrate clinical skills with basic science knowledge early in their training.  The campus has an 11,000-square-foot anatomy lab with approximately 20 cadaver tables, each with its own workstation and monitor to bring research materials to the student.  The campus has wireless Internet connectivity, and students can access online library and teaching materials from school or home.

Dr. Ross was a futurist – because he sees a rapidly changing health care profession that will require both physicians and nurses to be well educated, able to adapt to new technologies easily and quickly, and who can demonstrate compassionate support to each and every patient.

Dr. Ross believed those are the capabilities that will define nurses and physicians in the 21st century.
