The Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is a professional program that builds on a foundation in science, humanities and related professional disciplines.  The  BSN program provides individuals with the ability to implement evidenced-based practice in the delivery of professional nursing care. Evidence-based practice incorporates scientific findings in the delivery of nursing care by incorporating theory and practical clinical skills. Fostering leadership and providing safe patient care is a direct outcome of this practice. Successful graduates receive a BSN Degree and are eligible to apply for licensure as a Registered Nurse (R.N.)

IUON is founded on a philosophy that is totally nursing-focused.  As a result, we provide a unique educational experience with all university resources dedicated to the nursing program.  The curriculum at IUON is modeled after the best U.S. and Canadian nursing schools.  The academic program is both accelerated and rigorous, with a focus on preparing students for licensure as beginning professional nurses and qualifies graduates for progression into advanced degree programs.

The BSN curriculum is based on the four central concepts of the nursing meta-paradigm: client, health, nursing and environment, and on the faculty's belief about teaching/learning and global nursing education.  BSN coursework emphasizes critical thinking, health and human functioning, care and therapeutics, person/environment fit and health care resources.  At IUON students have the opportunity to learn about and practice culturally-competent nursing care to a multicultural population. The scope of practice in St. Kitts supports the student’s active participation in health promotion, disease prevention, decision-making, health status evaluation and patient education activities in a variety of nursing practices including acute care and community-based settings.

IUON operates year round with classes beginning in September, January and May.  With this continuous schedule, students complete the BSN program in  two to three years.  IUON provides each student with academic advisement and a planned program that meets individual needs and ability to progress.

The BSN program is offerweb-academics.jpged at our state of the art campus located on the exotic Caribbean island of St. Kitts. Our facilities are comparable to the best nursing schools and provide students with an outstanding learning environment.

Students complete three-to-six semesters in St. Kitts and then transition back to one of our partner schools in the U.S or Canada to complete their final year.

Our students graduate with two degrees:  one from IUON and the other from the U.S. or Canadian partner school.  Having graduated form the U.S. or Canadian nursing school, students are eligible to apply for the R.N. licensure examination.

Become that nurse of the future and experience the many and wonderful possibilities this profession has to offer.
